Formally opened by The Chancellor, Rt Hon George Osborne, the new EMEA headquarters of global investment bank Nomura, alongside the Thames at One Angel Lane, is ‘Shinkyo’ – new home – to 3,500 employees.
The largest single occupancy fit-out in the UK, the building spans 546,000 square feet over 11 floors, with space for over 1800 traders on two floors.
Including a staff gymnasium, medical centre, broadcast studio, 220 seat auditorium, multi-faith facility and 20,000 square feet riverside terrace (the largest roof terrace in the City), One Angel Lane would not be complete without stunning catering facilities
With a project value £2.6m, the foodservice scheme within Nomura was designed and specified by FCSI kitchen design consultant Andrew Humble, Humble Arnold Associates. Installation was by C&C Catering Equipment, its largest contract to date.
The project comprised the following areas:
Ground Floor: pantries and auditorium kitchen
Second Floor: cafe bar
Third Floor: cafe bar
Sixth Floor: main staff dining restaurant and café bar areas, roof garden barbecue overlooking the Thames
Tenth Floor: directors’ pantry
Eleventh Floor: large executive private dining facility and three directors’ pantries
Adande’s two-drawer units were specified by Humble Arnold for use in key areas including the sixth and 11th floor kitchens and in an adjacent prep area.
“The objective was to make Nomura the best place to work in the City and we are confident we’ve got the design right,” says Head of Foodservice Facilities, Nomura, Paul Gardener.
“Having seen the Adande units close-up at first hand I think we should have had more of them, especially the ‘Matchbox’ models which open on both sides.”
